Claude Chauchetière, S.J.
He was born on Saturday October 7, 1645 at Saint-Porchaire-de-Poitiers, Aquitaine, France. He was baptized at la Paroisse de Saint-Porchaire in Potiers, France on Tuesday October 10, 1645. Claude Chauchetière had two brothers. His brother Jean Chauchetière was also a Jesuit, but had remained in France. His father was Jean Chauchetière and his mother Elisabeth de La Noue, who died when he was nine years old.

In 1662, his father Jean Chauchetière died.
Sunday October 7, 1663, entered the Jesuit Society at Bordeaux at the age of eighteen years old, after his studies at the college in Saint-Porchaire-de-Potiers.
Tuesday September 8, 1665, pronounced his vows at the age of twenty-one years old.
Monday September 14, 1665, left the Jesuit novitiate to study philosophy at Potiers.
1667 to 1670, taught at Tulle, France.
1670 to 1671, taught at La Rochelle, France.
1671 to 1672, taught at Saintes, France.
1672 to 1673, taught at La Rochelle, France.
1673 to 1677, returned to Potiers to study theology, and prepared himself by learning the Huron language from François Joseph Le Mercier, S.J. before leaving for Québec in 1677.
July 1677, arrived at Huron Mission of Notre-Dame-de-Lorette in Québec at the age of 32 years old.
October 1677 and before the arrival of Catherine Tekakwitha to the Mission of Saint Francis Xavier, arrived at the Mission Saint Francis Xavier at the Sault Saint Louis.
1684 to 1688, Superior of the Mission of Saint Francis Xavier at the Sault Saint Louis.
1689, went to Fort Catarkoui (Fort Frontenac, Kingston, Canada).
1693 to 1694, Proto-regent of at Collège de Villemarie (Montréal, Canada), and taught mathematics.
He died in Québec on Holy Wednesday, April 7, 1709, at the age of 64 years old.

Pierre Cholenec, S.J.
He was born on Saturday June 29, 1641 at Saint-Paul-de-Léa, Finistère, France.
He entered the Jesuit Society in Paris on October 8, 1659, and taught in the colleges of Moulins, Eu and in the study of philosophy at La Flèche, from 1661 to 1670. In 1670 to 1674, he studied theology in Paris, and departed for Québec in August 1674, at the age of 33 years old.
He was a Missionary at the Mission of Saint Francis Xavier in Laprairie and the Sault Saint Louis from 1674 to 1682. In 1700, he was the Superior of the Jesuit residence in Montréal.
He was Superior at the Mission Saint Francis Xavier from 1695 to 1699 and 1711 to 1722, which he was the first Superior at the Mission when it was displaced to Kahnawake in 1716.
He died in Québec on Saturday October 30, 1723, at the age 82 years old.

In Québec, the Jesuit Fathers were buried in the church of the Jesuits. The College of the Jesuits was located adjacent to the church. The College of the Jesuits was built in 1635 and was demolished in 1878. The church of the Jesuits was built in 1666 and demolished in 1807. In 1878, they were removed from the burial grounds of the demolished church and place under the Basilique – Cathédrale de Notre- Dame de Québec. Perhaps this is the present resting place of the Fathers Claude Chauchetière, S.J. (d. Wednesday April 7, 1709 at the age of 64 years old) and Pierre Cholenec, S.J. (d. Saturday October 30, 1723 at the age of 82 years old).

Jacques de Lamberville, S.J.
He was born on Sunday March 25, 1640 at Rouen, France. In 1660, he entered the Jesuit Society.
He was an instructor in the colleges at Alenson, Amiens, Compagnie and Hesdin, from 1663 to 1670.
His studies were completed at Bourges and departed for Québec in 1675.
In 1675, he was a Missionary at the Iroquois Mission among the Mohawks.
In 1681, he became his brother’s assistant at Onondaga and became Chaplain at Fort Catarakoui in 1687. In 1688, he was an instructor in the College of Québec.
In 1689 he was a Missionary at the Mission of Saint Francis Xavier at Sault Saint Louis
He was Superior of the Mission of Saint Francis Xavier from1693 to 1695.
He died and was buried at Kanatawenke on Sunday April 18, 1711, at the age of 71 years old, from which he was consumed by work and penances according to Father Pierre-François-Xavier de Charlevoix.

Jean de Lamberville, S.J.
He was born on 1633 at Rouen, France. He entered the Jesuit Society in 1656.
He came to Québec in 1669. In 1671 to 1685, he was a Missionary at Onondaga.
He died in Paris, France on Tuesday February 6, 1714, at the age of 81 years old.

Jacques Bruyas, S.J.
He was born on July 13, 1635 at Lyons, France.
In 1651, he entered the Jesuit Society and arrived in Québec on August 3, 1666.
In 1667 to 1692, he was a Missionary at the Iroquois Mission among the Oneidas. He was Superior General of the Jesuit Mission in New France from 1693 to 1698.
He was Superior of the Mission of Saint Francis Xavier from 1682 to 1684, 1688 to 1693 and 1699 to 1709.
He died and was buried at Kanatawenke on Wednesday June 15, 1712, at the age of 77 years old.

Jean Pierron, S.J.
He was born on September 28, 1631at Dun-sur-Meuse, France.
In 1650, he entered the Jesuit Society at Nancy, and arrived in Québec, June 27, 1667.
He established the Iroquois Missions with Father Jacques Frémin among the Mohawks and Onondagas.
In 1678, he returned to France.
He died at Pont-à-Mousson, France on Monday February 14, 1701, at the age of 70 years old.

Jacques Frémin, S.J.
He was born on March 12, 1628 at Reims, France.
He entered the Jesuit Society at Paris on November 21, 1646 and arrived in Québec in 1657.
In 1671 to 1682, he was Superior of the Mission of Saint Francis-Xavier.
He died at Québec on Friday July 20, 1691, at the age of 63 years old.

Nicolas Jean Potier, S.J.
He was born on September 2, 1642 at Chauny, France.
In 1661, he entered the Jesuit Society, at Paris.
He arrived in Québec in 1679.
In 1679 to 1683, he was a Missionary at the Huron Mission of Notre-Dame-de-Lorette.
In 1683, he was a Missionary at the Mission of Saint Francis Xavier at the Sault Saint Louis.
In 1685, he was an instructor in the College of Québec, and later was a Missionary to the Hurons at Mackinac.
He died at Québec on Wednesday May 4, 1689, at the age of 47 years old.

Jean Morain, S.J.
He was born on June 20, 1630 at Coutances, France.
He entered the Jesuit Society at Paris, in 1667.
In 1667, he arrived in Québec.
In 1678, was ordained priest and was a Missionary at the Tadoussac.
He was a Missionary among the Senecas from 1679 to 1682.
In 1682, he had the charge of a village four leagues from Tadoussac, but an attack of paralysis of the leg compelled him to go to Québec to seek remedy.
In 1683, he was a Missionary at the Saint Francis Xavier at the Sault Saint Louis.
In October 1683, he was cured of his paralysis during a novena he had made to Catherine Tekakwitha.
He remained at the Mission of Saint Francis Xavier until his death. He was buried at the Sault Saint Louis on Tuesday February 24, 1688, at the age of 58 years old.

Pierre François Xavier de Charlevoix, S.J.
He was born on October 29, 1682 at Saint Quentin, France.
He entered the Jesuit Society at Paris on September 15, 1698.
In 1705, he arrived in Québec
In 1708, he was at the Sault Saint Louis and returned to France for his ordination as priest in 1709.
In 1720, he went to Québec with the order of the French Court to gather the history and general description of New France.
He traveled through New France from 1720 to1723, and in 1721 was at the Sault Saint Louis.
He died at La Flèche, France on Sunday February 1, 1761, at the age of 79 years old.

Pierre Joseph Marie Chaumonot, S.J.
He was born on March 9, 1611 at Châtillon-sur-Seine, France.
He entered the Jesuit Society in Rome, May 18, 1632 and arrived at Québec, August 1, 1639.
He was a Missionary among the Hurons in Québec.
He died at Québec on Saturday February 21, 1693, at the age of 82 years old.

Claude Dablon, S.J.
He was born on June 21, 1619 at Dieppe, France.
He died at Québec on Friday May 3, 1697 at the age of 78 years old.
He was Superior General of the Jesuit Missions in New France from 1671 to 1680 and 1686 to 1693.

Pierre Rémy, a Sulpician priest was born in 1636 at Paris, France. He went New France on June 1, 1671 and on November 10, 1680, the year of the death of Catherine Tekakwitha, was appointed pastor at Lachine, where he remained until 1706. Later that he became the Procurator of the Montreal Seminary and Superior for the Sisters of Notre-Dame in Lachine. He died at the age of ninety on Sunday February 24, 1726.

Father Pierre Millet, S.J.
He was born on November 19, 1635 at Bourges, France. He entered the Jesuit Society on October 3, 1655 at Paris, France.
He arrived in Québec on August 5, 1667. In 1668, was Missionary at Onondaga and in 1672, was Missionary at Oneida.
In 1688, he was Chaplain at Fort Niagara and then later of that year was Chaplain at Fort Catarakoui.
In 1696, he was Missionary at the Mission of Lorette in Quebec.
In 1697 to 1703, he was Missionary at Kanatawenke.
He died on December 31, 1708 at Québec.

François Boniface, S.J.
He was born, August 11, 1635 at Arras, France.
He entered the Society at Paris, France September 30, 1652, arrived in Canada in 1669.
He was Missionary at Andagaron and at the Sault Saint Louis. He died at Québec on Wednesday September 19, 1674, at the age of 39 years old.

Vincent Bigot, S.J.
He was born on May 15, 1649 at Bourges, France.
He entered the Jesuit Society at Paris, September 2, 1664.
He arrived in Québec in 1680.
He was Missionary at the Sault in 1682 to 1693 at Kahnawakon.
He returned to France in 1713
He died on September 17, 1720 at Paris, France at the age of 71 years old.

Jean Enjalran, S.J.
He was born on October 10, 1639 at Rodez, France.
He entered the Jesuit Society on September 18, 1656.
He arrived in Québec on July 22, 1676.
In 1683, Superior of the Outaouacs Mission and Chaplain at Fort Cataracoui.
He returned to France in 1702.
He died on Sunday April 8, 1708 at Rodez, France, at the age of 69 years old.

François Joseph Le Mercier, S.J.
He was born on October 4, 1604 at Paris, France. He entered the Jesuit Society on October 19, 1620.
In 1635, he arrived in Québec and was a Missionary in the Huronia mission.
He was Superior General of the Jesuit Missions in New France from 1653 to 1656 and 1665 to 1671.
In 1673, he returned to France.
He died at the island of Martinique in 1690, at the age of 86 years old.

Jacques Buteux, S.J.
He was born on April 11, 1600 at Abbeville, France. He entered the Jesuit Society on October 20, 1620. He arrived in Québec on June 24, 1634. In 1634, he founded the Mission of Notre-Dame de la Conception in Trois-Rivières (Three Rivers) with Paul Le Jeune, S.J. Father Buteux was perhaps the Father that baptized Tekakwitha’s mother in Trois-Rivières. On Friday May 10, 1652, Father Jacques Buteux was killed by a band of fourteen Iroquois on the Rivière Saint Maurice, north of Trois-Rivières.

René Cuillèrier, arrivé au Canada en 1659 comme simple défricheur engagé par Angélique Faure (de Bullion) en vue de la construction de l’Hôtel-Dieu de Ville-Marie (Montréal). Capturé par les Onneiouts en octobre 1661 et mis en mort. Il due sa vie à une vieille Amérindienne, qui l’adopta. Il parvint à s’échapper dix neuf mois de captivité et retourna à Ville-Marie, où il épousa Marie Lucault Il est la souche d’une nombreuse famille de seize enfants. A son retour, il s’établit comme colon à Montréal et prit part à la fondation et le premier marguillier de la de la paroisse Saints-Anges à Lachine. Sa maison fortifée prit le nom de Fort Cuillerier vers 1676, au bas de la côte de Lachine. En 1682, celui-ci visita la Mission Saint-François-Xavier pour assister par dévotion au saint sacrifice, puis il alla saluer le Père Jacques Bruyas, S.J. Or, juste avant de dire sa messe, le jésuite avait consulté dans un livre de la Vie des Saints pour y trouver quelques traits attachants en vue d’en parler à ses fidèles dans son exhortation. Il découverte un recueil de quelques actions principales et plus grandes édification des personnes qui leur vie était plus remarquable dans la vie du Père Claude Chauchetière, S.J. Le Père Chauchetière avait rédigé ces pages et les avait laissées dans ce livre à la Mission de Saint-François-Xavier au Sault Saint-Louis. Après la sainte messe que le Père Bruyas lut ces pages à René Cuillerier et tous les deux admirèrent l’esprit de Dieu qui avait conduit Catherine Tekakwitha pendant sa vie. Ils bénirent la divine bonté de Dieu qui l’avait donné la connaissance d’une si grande merveille. Après qu’il a eu une guérison pour sa femme par l’intercession de Catherine Tekakwitha que René Cuillerier se hâta de faire connaître la dévotion à Catherine Tekakwitha dans Lachine et Ville-Marie. Cette grande servante de Dieu ne cesser pas les guérisons auprès sa famille, après qu’ils demanda par son intercession. René Cuillerier décéda vers 1713.
